The Carnivore Diet

Meat.

The mere mention of the word is enough to kick your salivary glands into overdrive. Mankind has been hunting, killing, and cooking meat for thousands of years. And, for good reason, meat is one of the most nutritious and anabolic sources of food on the planet, regardless of what those skinny jeans-wearing, granola-eating powder puffs say.

Now, if you’re serious about building muscle, making gains, and living your best life ever, you already eat a generous amount of animal protein, but there’s also likely a decent amount of plant-based foods (fruits, veggies, whole grains, etc.) in there as well.

Well, what if we told you that there was an entire diet based just around eating meat.

No bland broccoli.

No boring brown rice.

Just glorious, delicious meat.

If that sounds up your alley, then we’ve got just the diet for you -- the carnivore diet.

What is the Carnivore Diet?

As you would guess, the carnivore diet is a diet in which you consume only animal products. It is the complete antithesis of the vegan, plant-based craze. And, it is glorious.

Anything that comes from an animal is fair game. Anything that doesn’t is off-limits.

This means that you can eat:

  • Steak
  • Bison
  • Venison
  • Pork
  • Eggs
  • Cheese
  • Yogurt
  • Milk
  • Whey Protein
  • Fish
  • Shrimp
  • Crawfish
  • Oysters

Fruits and veggies are off-limits, along with other foods such as nuts, seeds, legumes, and grains.

Benefits of the Carnivore Diet

The Carnivore Diet, in addition to being extremely nutrient-rich, also serves as a form of “elimination diet” that removes a lot of the crap that’s permeating through the Standard American Diet.

As such, it can be beneficial for weight loss and reducing symptoms of GI distress. The Carnivore Diet can also serve as a “reset” of sorts to help individuals focus on quality foods.

That being said, the carnivore diet can also be used for building muscle and improving health. Remember, building muscle is a matter of consuming enough protein (which is very easy to do when you’re only eating meat) and ingesting enough total calories. So long as you’re consuming enough protein and total calories you can build muscle!

The Carnivore Diet may not be for everyone, but if you’re looking for a simple, delicious diet that harkens back to more primal times, then give it a shot and unleash your inner meat eater!
